As an adolescent friend of Matthew Shepard, Veronica Kennedy has been part of the fight for LGBTQ equality for decades. As a mother, she works everyday to encourage other parents to be an advocate and join the fight. That is all the more important in a time when LGBTQ youth are not protected from conversion therapy practices in more than 30 states.
Playboy magazine profiled six people—both survivors and LGBTQ activists, including Veronica Kennedy—who are working everyday to end the practice of conversion therapy in the U.S. The feature, “Faces of Resilience” appears in Playboy’s Summer 2019 quarterly, “On Gender and Sexuality.” These six brave people inspired Playboy to launch its PRIDE IS GOOD campaign in support of The Trevor Project’s 50 Bills 50 States campaign.
